2010 was the year of the expiring home buyer tax credit and by looking at the data for the last two calendar years it's pretty easy to see what areas benefited from the tax credits and which really didn't feel the pain from those credits expiring.  Final numbers for ALL of Indianapolis and northern suburbs for 2009 and 2010 for homes sold and those under contract by 12/31 of each year:

From the Indianapolis Star:

The housing industry endured one of its weakest years in decades in 2010, as sales of existing homes in the Indianapolis metro area fell 9.7 percent from the previous year.

The 21,463 home sales in the 13-county metro area compares to 23,770 in 2009 and 25,817 in 2008, the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors said today.

In announcing year-end sales, MIBOR was able to point to a few bright spots. One was the average sale price of homes, which grew 6.8 percent last year over 2009, to $151,832. The median sale price in the metro area rose 3.5 percent, to $122,000.

The number of homes listed for sale in the metro area also fell by 8.9 percent in the fourth quarter, reducing an inventory that had been growing earlier in the year.
